DR. KATH MACLEAN - POET BIO
Since the publication of her award winning first book, For a Cappuccino on Bloor, Kath MacLean’s poetry, nonfiction and creative nonfiction have been generating critical acclaim across Canada and have been published in journals across the country, in the United States, and recently in Europe. A professor of English and creative writing much of the time, MacLean was Writer in Residence for the Canadian Author’s Association (2009/2010). Last fall she recorded Seed Bone & Hammer, a CD of performance poetry with Lane Arndt. Her videopoem, There Was A Young Man with Oops Design is now being shown to national and international audiences. Hot off the press is Kat Among the Tigers (U of A Press 2011), poetry based on the journals and correspondence of modernist Katherine Mansfield. A second poetryvideo, Doo-Da-Doo-Da, Mansfield’s experience during the 1915 bombing of France, is forthcoming this spring. Kath is also thrilled to announce her recent nomination to perform at Harbourfront’s Battle of the Bard this March in Toronto.
MacLean will be reading from an assortment of her work including selections from her new book.
